COME AS YOU ARE

A warm welcome
on Saturday.

Whether it’s your first meeting or your thousandth, there is room for you here.

EVERY SATURDAY

7:00pm

Put the kettle on.

Come in, settle down, and have a tea or coffee. A little conversation can make walking through the door easier.

7:30pm

We begin together.

Big Book study and discussion, stories and sharing, and old-fashioned wisdom passed from one recovering alcoholic to another. Honest support from people putting their daily reprieve into practice and willing to help.

YOUR FIRST MEETING

It’s okay to just listen.

01

A friendly room

People with different lives, connected by a wish to recover from alcoholism. You don’t need a polished story.

02

Sharing, not judging

Listen to others, and share if you feel comfortable. There is no pressure to speak or explain everything.

03

Respect for anonymity

Respect people’s privacy. Please don’t photograph, record or repeat another person’s story outside the meeting.

A few things you might be wondering

Do I have to be religious?

No religious belief is required to attend AA. The programme uses spiritual language, and people approach it with different beliefs and questions.

Do I need to know the Big Book already?

No. You can start by listening. Ask someone at the meeting to help you find your way through a reading.

Does AA cost anything?

AA has no membership dues or fees. Groups usually cover their expenses through voluntary contributions from members.

Can a friend or family member come?

AA meetings have different arrangements for visitors. This group’s open or closed status has not been confirmed here. Use the official meeting finder or national helpline to check before bringing someone.

What if I have started drinking again?

You can ask for help again. You do not need to hide a difficult day. If you may be physically dependent, get medical advice before stopping suddenly.
