STEP 01 OF 12
Honesty
Recognising that drinking has become a problem can be the beginning of asking for help. You do not have to compare your experience with anyone else’s.

THE BIG BOOK READING ROOM
Some words
stay with you.
Big Book study and discussion. Stories and sharing. Old-fashioned wisdom and honest support from people living their own daily reprieve, ready to help another recovering alcoholic.
YOUNG, OLD, AND EVERYWHERE BETWEEN
You belong
in the conversation.
Different ages. Different lives.
A shared wish to recover.
Am I too young — or too old — for AA?
You don’t have to reach a particular age or compare how much you’ve lost. If you want to stop drinking, you can ask for help. People come to recovery at different times in their lives.
What if I’m nervous about coming?
Walking into a new room can feel like a big step. Arrive for tea or coffee at 7pm and let someone know it’s your first visit. You can simply listen when the meeting begins.
Do I need to believe in God?
You can come with faith, doubt, or no religious belief. A higher power is something you can explore in your own understanding, with time and support.
Explore this question ↗Will I have to tell my story?
You can listen without sharing. Please respect the privacy of everyone in the room, and leave other people’s stories with them.
How we respect anonymity ↗A CUP OF TEA. A CONVERSATION. A BEGINNING.
